Spending money on marketing is certainly not a requirement and will not prevent you from growing a site. I typically like to see a site grow organically with free methods before considering paid advertisements.
If you do not already have a website set-up that you plan to work on, you may need to reserve a small budget to purchase a domain name and hosting. A domain costs roughly $10-$15 per year and a starter hosting package can run $5-$8 per month.
If you do have a budget, you can also choose to acquire an existing website that has traffic and revenue to accelerate the process. This of course is completely optional.

First, it’s important to note that you will start by looking at exactly what your goals are.
